GLOBALIZATION’S OVERSUPPLY OF WEALTH AND WORKERS

Daniel Alpert of the New York Times has an interesting take on the global economy and our role in it. He calls the fight we are having with our budget impasse “a sideshow.” Apparently we are wasting our time and political substance divvying up our treasure with political games when we should be focusing on what is making such economic collisions necessary, like what has happened and is happening in the rest of the world. Mexico and Brazil, for instance, represent emerging economies (with oil) which are coming on and are not as poor as many would have you believe. Indeed I have often joked that with right to work laws and the race to the bottom currently suffered by American labor we may have Americans going to Mexico in a reverse exodus looking for a living wage within the foreseeable future.
